About the artist

Anchen is a contemporary and social activist artist, inspired by the beautiful people of her home country, South Africa, and now by the serene beauty of the British landscape between Oakmere and Delamere Forest, that she calls home. Her art is a vibrant expression of colour and emotion, inviting viewers to explore the depths of human spirit through bold strokes and oversized canvases. Her abstract compositions encompass people, animals, flowers, and nature, with a current focus on nature’s profound attributes in larger-than-life contemporary pieces. Anchen’s mastery of layering, mark-making, and hand painting creates a profound connection between nature and ancient forms of expression.

As an artist, I believe in the transformative power of art to connect us with the divine, nature, and our essential human relationships. My creative journey is dedicated to exploring the depths of the human heart, nurturing a connection with our inner child, and fostering healing within our communities.

Through my work, I weave together diverse cultural narratives, celebrating their inherent resilience and beauty across generations, with a special focus on uniting hearts through the artistic storytelling of women and children. My art resonates with the stories of our environment and natural elements, capturing the emotions and motions of living in a breathtaking world. Animals and flowers often feature prominently in my pieces, symbolising a return to the garden of our souls and catalysing the restoration of creative spirit.

With over 15 years of experience, I have utilised art as a catalyst for healing, restoration, and community connection. Inspired by the diverse cultures of my homeland, South Africa, and the serene landscapes of the British countryside I now call home, my art is a vibrant celebration of colour and emotion, revealing the beauty and purity of the inner child within us all.

Employing a blend of impressionist and abstract styles, my portraits and identity elements are infused with the essence of nature and heritage. Each artwork gives voice to the profound stories of our world and the people who enrich it.

My mastery lies in layering, mark-making, and impressionist painting, techniques that forge a profound link between nature and ancient forms of expression. I am committed to empowering marginalised voices through my art, particularly women and children. Over the years, I have led workshops and creative sessions, bringing my expressive style to diverse audiences and settings.
