In the vibrant strokes and bold hues of “Tribes,” I seek to capture the profound beauty of unity amidst multiplicity. Created during a live event in 2023, this acrylic on canvas piece, measuring 1200mm x 1000mm, embodies the essence of disparate souls converging in harmony.

At its core, “Tribes” celebrates the convergence of varied peoples and cultures, portraying the majestic union of the lion and the ox. These symbolic figures represent strength and servitude, leadership and humility, respectively. Yet, it is in their coming together, unified by the heart connection of finding greater common purposes, that true unity is found.

The canvas pulsates with bright blues, evoking the boundless grace that accompanies unity. Accentuated by vibrant reds and yellows, these colours mirror the vitality and multiplicity of our shared existence. Beneath the surface, hints of charcoal drawing peek through, a reminder of the inherent vulnerability that accompanies unity.
